What are the reasons for psoriasis?

The reasons why psoriasis occurs, can be various since it is a multifactorial condition and it is not possible to determine with certainty a single cause although in many cases the genetic component plays an important role.

One of the recurrent reasons why it occurs is after a long period of severe emotional stress, such as bereavement, but it is not the only reason; in fact, in people with sedentary lifestyles and for those who are overweight, the risk of ending up with plaques in the indentations and sores of the skin is high. The tendency to develop psoriasis can be hereditary; in fact, a child has a chance of developing this condition if a relative has it.

Making information is very important, because people mistakenly think that psoriasis is an infectious disease but it is not, so it is not a danger to be around a person who has it.

Certain habits such as smoking can also be particularly harmful for those with psoriasis, but alcohol and high cholesterol can also increase the risk of its occurrence.

Approximately 3% of the population is affected by psoriasis both males and females equally, and it occurs between the ages of 20 and 30 for the first time, or between 50 and 60, while it is rarer in children but if it occurs from 15 it is considered early and more harmful.

Triggering factors, in addition to those already mentioned, can be accidental or surgical wounds that can trigger an inflammatory reaction in predisposed persons and can appear even after a variety of time in the areas affected by the trauma and is called KOEBNER'S PHENOMENON (reactive isomorphism) that often starts on the elbows. It would also seem that the violence of the repeated impact with which the part is hit is instrumental in the appearance of the disease.

We still see other causes such as:

  • Sunburn, which while sun and lamps can also be used to counteract the disease, it is good not to over-expose the affected part.
  • Certain medications including Beta-blockers, chloroquine, lithium, ace inhibitors, interferon-alpha, corticosteroids are all possible triggers
  • Anxiety
  • Celiac disease
  • Inflammatory bowel disease
  • Obesity
  • Diabetes
  • Hypertension
  • Fatty liver
  • High cholesterol
  • Dyslipidemia
Although the disease is not life-threatening, the Ministry of Health has recognized psoriasis as a social disease, both because of its prevalence and its limitations. Therefore, we urge you to consult your primary care physician and your dermatologist of choice to find its causes and remedies together.

We propose using Lenipsor+ BioActive GEL made with a 100% plant extract.
